
Adam MORALT, was a Servant "Kalkant" at the court music in Mannheim. He was a member of "Elector Carl Theodor's Hofkapelle" in Mannheim. As a result of the Elector Carl Theodor's succession to the throne of Bavaria the Mannheim court as well as a large number of its court musicians were moving to Munich in 1778 and with them Adam MORALT and his family came to Munich.

He is the ancestor of the artist family in Munich. His sons nearly all court musicians founded the different branches of the family:
From his first marriage with Anna Maria KRAMER (1744-1794) descent the sons:- Johann Wilhelm MORALT (*1774 in Mannheim), he became a violinist. It seems that he has lived in England with his uncle the musician and conductor Johann Wilhelm CRAMER, the brother of his mother.
- Joseph MORALT (1775-1855), he studied with Peter Winter and was an excellent violinist and member of the Hofkapelle in Munich. 1800 he was appointed concert master. With his brother Philipp he belonged 1811 to to the founders of the musical academy "Musikalische Akademie" in Munich whose concerts he often conducted. Since 1827 he is Conductor of the court orchestra (Hofmusik-Instrumental-Direktor). He deserved well of the famous Mannheim-Munich strings tradition. With his brothers Johann Babtist, Jakob and Philipp he founded a famous stringquartet the so called Moralt-quartet, with which they made concert tours within Germany and to Switzerland, France and England.

When his brother Jakob died in 1820 he cared for his children. In 1827 he married Theresia RAAB, the widow of his brother Jakob. He was a good stepfather and educated his brothers children well.
- Johann Babtist MORALT (1777-1825), he studied with the instrumental director of the court orchestra Karl Cannabich and with Joseph Graetz. He was 21 years old when he became as violinist member of the Hofkapelle in Munich. His compositions, besides others also some symphonies which remind of Joseph Hayden where performed mainly in the "Musikalische Akademie". His quartette for flute, violin, viola and cello from 1815 is still performed today.

- Jakob MORALT (1780-1820), the twin brother of Philipp MORALT, he was an excellent musician on the viola and a member of the Hofkapelle in Munich. He studied with Christof Greitner and 17 years old he became eleve in the Hofkapelle. We dont know very much about Jakob Moralt but he became a member of the Hofkapelle in Munich.
From his sons Anton (1812-1883) and Eduard Anton (1819-1859) became musicians at the Bavarian court. Ludwig (1815-1888) became a famous painter. He studied at the Munich academy with Hess, Schlotthauer and Cornelius. Heinrich Anton (1816-1859), became Pharmacist and Theodor (1817-1877) became main cashier of the Court Theater. The daughter Magdalena (1813-1875) married the architecture professor Rudolf Joseph v. KRAMER (1809-1874).
- Philipp MORALT (1780-1830), the twin brother of Jakob MORALT became a court- and chamber musician. As a cellist a member of the Hofkapelle and the "Musikalische Akademie" in Munich. He was often on concert tours in Germany and Europe. He left the "Musikalische Akademie" 1824 and became conductor of the orchestra of the "Gesellschaft Frohsinn".
- Georg MORALT (1781-1818), he became court musician. With his brothers Johann Babtist, Joseph and Philipp he was later a member ot the famous Moralt-quartet.
- Johann Alois MORALT (1785-1858), he became pianist and composer. He lived in London, England and married 1812 in London, the musician and composer Sophia Justina CORRI, the widow of the musician Jan Ladislav Dussek.
